Welcome!
Hi, this is Mingcong 😊
Currently, I work with Dr. Qimin Liu as a lab manager at the Quantitative Psychopathology Lab in the Center for Anxiety & Related Disorders (CARD) at Boston University. Previously, I worked with Dr. Lily Brown at the Center for the Treatment and Study of Anxiety (CTSA), Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania. I also worked with Dr. Todd J. Farchione at the TREND UP Lab in CARD.
My research examines (1) how stress exposure and emotion regulation jointly shape depression and anxiety, and (2) how mechanistically informed, person-specific approaches can improve assessment and optimize interventions. Using multimethod approaches across multiple levels of analysis, I focus on temporal dynamics and individual differences to characterize heterogeneity in affective psychopathology. I am particularly interested in using statistical and computational models to bridge mechanistic investigation, clinical translation, and real-world mental health practice.
Beyond my research, I have gained clinical and translational experience across academic medical centers, private clinics, and mental health startup settings in China and North America, where I worked with children, adolescents, young adults, and families, and contributed to the development, cultural adaptation, and digitalization of family-systems-informed assessment and interventions. My translational and practice work focuses on developing more precise, personalized, and scalable approaches to mental health care.
